============================== Title: Introduction to Homomorphic Encryption
Abstract: There have been significant progresses on cryptographic techniques for secure computation over the last decade. For example, Homomorphic Encryption (HE) is a cryptosystem which supports the computation on encrypted data without decrypting it. The HE technology can be used to address the security and privacy issues in cloud computing and personalized services, however, it has been rarely used in practice due to its high computational cost. In this talk, I will briefly review the history of HE and present some recent achievements to improve the performance, functionality, and usability.
Bio: Yongsoo Song is a senior researcher in the Cryptography and Privacy Research group at Microsoft Research Redmond. His research interests range from theory to practical applications of cryptographic primitives and protocols. Yongsoo Song’s recent work focusses on designing efficient homomorphic encryption and building privacy-preserving protocols for computational tasks in machine learning
